How the entitlement is worked out
- Days per week: 5.6 × the days you work a week, capped at 28 days. Three days a week gives 16.8 days; five or more gives 28.
- Starting or leaving part-way through the leave year: the full-year figure × the share of the leave year you are employed, rounded up to the next half day.
- Irregular hours: 12.07% of the hours worked in the pay period, rounded up to the next half hour.
- Bank holidays can count towards the entitlement if your employer says so. Your contract can give you more than the statutory minimum, but not less.
This is an estimate for general information. It covers statutory leave only and does not apply any extra contractual days, carry-over or leave already taken. Check GOV.UK for your own circumstances.
